Portuguese Dreams
Have arrived on the shores of Portugal with a dream, several duffle bags and an open mind to find inspiration in the beautiful countryside. The new work is both familiar in that there is “home” in the actions of looking, feeling, making art even if there is nothing familiar around me. The work feels new too as I work to find new vistas, while at the same time trying to find my footing to make something familiar. This series is a new one interpreting the new world around me.
About the Art
Sea Glass makes me laugh as I was on a mission to find some jumbo-sized glass jars for my garden. The ocean-side fair with its surf, sun and boardwalk lured me and spurred me on. Yes, I found them. This work is about the hunt and the joy of surprise.

About the Series
Textiles are so interesting. They have very practical applications and serve primarily in service to our lives. And yet, the very nature of them is decorative, symbolic, historic. The weft and weave tell a story that resonates. I’m so interested in how my photographic work mirrors the crafting of a texture. This series looks at texture, dyes, lines, designs and refigures them like the string and yarn that is used to make the fabrics of our age and of those in the past.

About the Art
Venice is for maximalists and that is what is so liberating about being there. Everywhere you turn there is something to see and immerse yourself in. But a common thread is your orientation to the canal, the stonework around you and the inevitable march of the light. It ebbs and flows like the water across the city depending on the season, the time of day and the weather.This photograph was created in camera using alternative camera techniques such as multiple exposure and ICM (intentional camera movement) in the abstract impressionist style.
